On the Streets of Paris – Louise Barbee
Starting May 18, our new artist is Louise Barbee. She describes her show, On the Streets of Paris:
I use photography as a means of self-expression. I create images for myself, to better understand my reality and to express my interpretation of the world around me. My goal is to use my camera like Alice’s rabbit hole, to open an unexplored world, a place of curious self-expression, but also a world of new relationships, new chances, new beginnings and most importantly new stories.
The photographs in this installation were all taken on the streets of Paris during a week I spent there in late September 2016. This was my first time in this enchanted city and the people and street life captured my heart. As I walked the streets, I tried to capture those private moments, when both people and places are unaware that anyone is looking. It is my hope that my images capture the essence of this city and that you are transported there if only for a few brief moments.
